consumated ... maybe consummated
Maybe consummated, used or even secondhand. Its not nice to be called used, its worse still to be called second hand. But consummated, that is something else - there is romance attached to it. From the past, records, essays, writeups, by me, by others, already publically published. Maybe from past blogs. Maybe someone reading this may say, "I have read that before", so be it - Lias.

Retired. Lives in in the Far East, in Malaysia to be precise. Vision & Mission in life left too far behind; but who can crystallise the future?; now take the seconds, minutes, hours and days as they come by.

HARDCOPY: Hardliners and liberals debate in TV show
Syed Nadzri Apr 28
KUDOS to Astro TV for showing a debate on the highly-contentious issue of
public morality policing and religious enforcement at prime time on Sunday.
It was an exciting 45 minutes of dialogue you'd least expect to encounter on
a night when live telecasts of the San Marino F1 Grand Prix and Premier
League soccer were also fighting for your attention.
The debate came on at 10pm under the Agenda series on Channel 92, just after
the Al Jazeera world news headlines. It was moderated by Suhaimi Sulaiman
and had four speakers: Lawyer Haris Mohd Ibrahim, National Fatwa Council
chairman Datuk Dr Ismail Ibrahim, Malaysian Muslim Youth Movement (Abim)
secretary-general Azizuddin Ahmad and Tunku A'amash Tunku Adnan, a spokesman
for what has been described as a concerned group of 221 Muslims who had
organised a petition to appeal to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Malay
Rulers for a re-evaluation of local religious rulings deemed unjust.
"I told my wife to...get out while I tried to safe the car..."
"...he had to abandon the vehicle and safe himself."
"...get out of their vehicles fast and safe themselves."
Is this the standard of English which the official news agency of Malaysia
finds acceptable? And there have been other such bloopers from them before
too. Sheeeeeeesh.... Solli, pardon my England... she is not well tooday...

Eight Cars Caught In Flash Floods
April 25, 2005 01:49 AM
KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 (Bernama) -- Heavy rain Sunday evening caused a river
to overflow and flood a stretch of Jalan Kepong-Sungai Buluh at the 14th
mile near Damansara Damai here, trapping eight cars in about a metre of
floodwaters that dragged the vehicles for up to 50 metres.
No one was injured in the floods that occurred at about 5 pm and caused
massive traffic congestion that stretched from the Selayang roundabout to
Paya Jaras.
Department of Civil Defence Operations Officer Lt Muda Mohamed Husni
Zulkafli said 10 officers and men of the department arrived at the scene at
5.45 pm and had a tough time controlling the traffic.
"Eight cars were washed away by the floodwaters for about 50 metres," he
told reporters at the scene.
Haslizan Mahad, 32, was driving his wife and one-year-old child from Batang
Berjuntai to Kajang when his car got caught in the fast-rising floodwaters.
"It was raining heavily and my car was among a row of 10 cars ... I saw the
floodwaters rising fast and covering the road," he said.
Haslizan said he tried to turn back but the floodwaters started to seep into
his Proton Saga car.
"When the floodwaters started to seep in, I told my wife to fetch our child
and get out while I tried to safe the car," he said but added that the
waters rose so fast that he had to abandon the vehicle and safe himself.

Poem on the web
This is a poem currently circulating on the Internet. Hope it won't
add up to your Monday woes. (or tuesday, or wednesday..)
Malaysian Mentality
You are a 3rd World Country
(A gentle reminder to all Malaysians)
Progress is not solely about prosperity
Nor buildings that look pretty
You may have the KLCC
But some places like Penang are still dirty
So you are still a 3rd world country because of your mentality
You try to beat the queue to get a taxi
And don't even bother about road courtesy
Not to mention parking indiscriminately
Without signalling you overtake randomly
And abusing lanes for emergency
Rising deaths on the roads is how u celebrate festivity
You created the MSC
To emulate Silicon Valley
You talk about high technology
To preach about the PC
But yet broadband is denied to many
You also can't supply stable electricity
Your roads have potholes and are bumpy
And tyres fall off your LRT
So this is Malaysian quality
Let's create the best schools, roads and toilets in the country
Are what Malaysia Boleh should strive to be
But instead Malaysia Boleh is so funny
You break records just to make yourself feel happy
Decades passed but this mentality I still see
Will this carry on till the next century?
Or will this change when we turn 80?
You are helpless and just let it be
Let it be
Will tomorrow be better for you and me?
15 years from now come 2020
if this goes on you will still be
just another 3rd world country because of your mentality.

Jester performance of MPs not amusing
ON THE BEAT by Wong Chun Wai onthebeat@thestar.com.my
MALAYSIANS must have shaken their heads in disbelief at the remarks
made by some of our elected representatives over the past week,
particularly after these representatives had voted to increase their
own allowances.
Quite understandably, politicians need to attract the attention of the
media to have their names quoted in the newspapers. Sometimes, the
headline-grabbing tactics may include making a controversial remark.
But there is a downside to it as the electorate, which has become more
demanding over the years, is unlikely to enjoy the court jester
performance of their representatives.
Those of us who have watched the debates in the British Parliament on
television, even for just a few minutes, must have wished that our
wakil rakyat could do the same.

PM told to end ministers' 'obsession' with April Fool's prank
Apr 15, 05 5:28pm
Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi should exercise leadership to end his
cabinet ministers' obsession in wanting to take action against malaysiakini
for its April Fool's prank, said Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang.
The PM should instead focus the cabinet's attention on the country's
spiralling disappointment in his failure to deliver his key premiership
pledge to establish a 'zero-tolerance for corruption', he said in a
statement today.
Lim accused some ministers of wanting to seek revenge on the online news
portal for causing panic within government circles on April 1.
Yesterday, Minister for Energy, Water and Communications Dr Lim Keng Yaik
disclosed that the Attorney-General's Chambers and the Malaysian
Communications and Multimedia Commission are investigating the prank.

'Rumie's death linked to case'
Effendi Yaacob KUCHING, Apr 13:
Suraida Abdul Lazit believes that her husband's death was related to a case
he was working on.
Department of Environment officer Rumie Azzan Mahlie had told her he was
working on a case involving an influential company which had allegedly
committed various environmental offences.
"He told me the case involved millions of ringgit and a large company which
he did not name," she said. "Rumie told me he was offered a big bribe to
drop the case."
Subsequently, he received a death threat and was told to prepare for his
funeral in three days.
Are we all surprised? Anything can happen when you are in the Malaysian Police custody, person or things.

Missing pills: Angry Noh wants answers
Leslie Andres, V. Shankar Ganesh and Jassmine Shadiqe
KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 7:
Embarrassed, puzzled, but mostly angry. This sums up the reaction among key
security officials to the disappearance of more than 60,000 psychotropic
pills in crucial court evidence that dramatically came to light during High
Court proceedings yesterday.
Deputy Internal Security Minister Datuk Noh Omar, livid over the incident,
wants answers fast on how nearly RM1 million in evidence could have vanished
into thin air.
"Police have to determine how the pills went missing and who was behind it,"
he said, adding that top priority should be given to the case.
Clearly disappointed with the Nimetazepam (also known as Eramin-5) going
missing from under the nose of the police, he said this should never have
happened.

MEDIA-MALAYSIA: Authorities Zero In On Bloggers
Sonny Inbaraj
BANGKOK, Apr 1 (IPS) - ''Malaysians thrive on rumours, especially when 90
percent of them seem to end up as facts in the end,'' says blogger Raja
Petra at his site 'Malaysia-Today', which urges contributions and comments
from the public.
But Malaysian bloggers are indeed finding out the tough way that truth
hurts - especially when the toes of powers-that-be are tread upon.
Mack Zulkifli who runs a new weblog called 'brandmalaysia' is the latest
victim of harassment by Malaysian authorities who certainly are not fans of
this Internet medium where ordinary people can comment on current events
using personal or collective websites.
